Comerica Bank and the Michigan Science Center partner to offer free admission and financial education sessions during Midtown’s Noel Night

Detroit, December 2, 2024 – Comerica Bank, in partnership with the Michigan Science Center (Mi-Sci), will offer free admission to the museum on Saturday, Dec. 7, as Midtown celebrates its 50th annual Noel Night. Community members are encouraged to spend the day in downtown Detroit to enjoy the holiday festivities and experience the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) educational offerings of the Michigan Science Center, at no cost.

A Midtown tradition, Noel Night is a festive open house that provides the opportunity to celebrate diverse holiday traditions in Midtown Detroit and Cultural Center districts. The event offers live music performances, holiday shopping with local businesses, visits with Santa, food trucks, make-and-take activities for families and more.

Comerica volunteers will host two financial education sessions on Dec. 7 in the Toyota Engineering Theatre from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1-2 p.m. to share banking best practices and tips and tricks for credit scores and reports. The sessions are open to all community members and will be joined by the Michigan Science Center’s STEMinista program, a group of middle school-aged girls, and the Explainers, a group of high school-aged rotational interns.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Michigan Science Center during Noel Night to provide free access to the STEM engagement hub of our community,” said Steve Davis, Comerica Bank Michigan market President. “While families gather downtown to celebrate the holiday season and learn about diverse traditions, they’ll also be able to explore a wide range of exhibits, programs and science demonstrations. As both Comerica Bank and the Michigan Science Center are deeply rooted in actively educating the community, this partnership truly reflects our shared mission and aims to inspire and foster our next generation.”

The Michigan Science Center is located at the corner of Warren Avenue and John R Street in Midtown Detroit and will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Those interested in visiting the Science Center for free on Saturday, Dec. 7, can reserve tickets here.

“We are thrilled to open our doors to the public for Detroit’s 50th Noel Night,” said Dr. Christian Greer, president and CEO of the Michigan Science Center. “Thanks to Comerica’s generous support, we’re able to welcome the community free of charge on this special occasion. Our educators are eagerly preparing engaging activities and exciting demonstrations designed to put you at the center of science, and we can’t wait to share them with everyone during this beloved holiday tradition!”

Comerica will also have two resource tables to provide visitors with information on products and services the bank offers.

Comerica’s commitment to the community is bolstered through direct support to transformative nonprofit organizations and by Comerica colleagues volunteering thousands of hours improving the communities where they both live and work. Since January 2019, Comerica Bank and the Comerica Charitable Foundation have contributed more than $49 million to philanthropic organizations in its markets, and Comerica colleagues have volunteered over 320,000 hours, which translates to more than $10.2 million worth of donated time.

175 Years of Raising Expectations

This year, Comerica Bank is celebrating 175 years of serving its communities, making it Michigan’s longest-serving bank. Comerica was founded in 1849 in Detroit during a time when all banks in the city were exclusive to the business community. This was the motivation behind Comerica’s decision to gear its banking for the people and for those who wanted to secure their personal and financial future. Since its inception, Comerica has grown in Michigan and throughout the country by focusing on the customer first and offering personal, small business and commercial banking services, as well as wealth management services.
